2006 John Alan Meritage - USA, California, Central Coast, Paso Robles (10/28/2009) Cocoa and leather flavors make a ripe, rich and fruity red seem dry and refined. On the sweeter end there is plum, brown sugar, fruit punch and a hint of bubble gum. I admire the this wine, very ripe fruit and sweet characteristics, but it still has discipline. (91 pts.)

John Alan is producing some serious QPRs. Here is my not on the 06 Roasted Ridge click. I really liked the Meritage and cab Franc, as well.
---------- "Sometimes when I reflect back on all the wine I drink I feel shame. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the vineyards and all of their hopes and dreams . If I didn't drink this wine, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, 'It is better that I drink this wine and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver."
