Laurent-Perrier Cuvee Rose Brute NV Champagne - Interesting near orange color, large, active bead. Tart cherry and citrus flavors, very light and fresh. 87 pts.
'81 Schramsberg Reserve Sparkling Wine Napa - Golden straw colored, with a nice, tiny bead still present. Muted citrus and yeast aromas, soft green apple and lemon on the palate, mid-length finish. Still in wonderful shape after 21 yrs. 91 pts.
'01 le Pigeoulet en Provence Vin de Pays de Vaucluse - Deep ruby/violet color, translucent, w/nice pink legs. Initial aromas of barnyard give way to deep black cherry fruit, leather, mushroom and oak. Flavors match the aroma profile nicely, with fresh acidity and enough tannins to pull it all together nicely. Long, spicy red fruit finish. 91 pts. $12, super-solid "A" QPR wine every vintage. A blend of grenache, syrah, mourvedre, cinsault, and carignan, I believe.
'91 Joseph Drouhin Puligny-Montrachet - Clear, deep golden color, lemon, honey, nice amount of smoky oak on the nose. More citrus, maybe some almond, and vanilla on the palate. Smooth, w/a nice touch of acidity left. Mid-length finish. 86 pts.
'99 Pieropan Soave Classico Superiore - Brillant straw colored w/lots of legs, sharp nose of citrus, nutty, citrusy fruit flavors and crisp acidity to match. Well balanced and long finish. 89 pts. $15, "A" QPR.
'98 CSM Reserve Late-Harvest Reisling - Mid-depth golden color, lots of thin legs, though not as viscous as other stickies. Vanilla, apricots, pear, and spice on the nose and palate. Bright acidity balances the sweetness perfectly. 90 pts., $16, "A" QPR as well.
...hey, chief - you gonna finish that bottle?
