After posting a 'help wanted' ad in the Wine Conversations forum I decided to start experimenting with the wines/suggestions. For info see the site below:

http://web8.winespectator.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=003230

The first wine opened of the group is the '94 CSM Cold Creek Vineyard CS. Opened for 1/2 hr. prior to tasting, not decanted.

Dark ruby to garnet coloration, clear, no sediment, lots of slow, clear to slightly red legs. Displays the colors of a nicely-aging cab.

Huge nose of cedar, some mint and red fruit; tart red plums, cherry, and blackberry on the palate with a touch more acidity than I remember, and quite a bit of fine, powdery-dry tannin. More cedar and red fruit on the finish.

The wine isn't showing as well as I remember it (3+ yrs. ago), can't tell if it's coming out of a dumb phase or beginning to slide...the level of tannin is quite confusing. 88 pts., I'd suggest drinking those that weren't stored under the most ideal of conditions, and those that were could hold another year to two, tops. Next time, '94 Apex CS.

TTFN!
