Stats: 13.5% alcohol. Bought at the local grocers for $24 (a little expensive for what I got). WS rated it 85 and says drink now - I can't disagree.

Label says: The Barons Ricasoli have been established at Brolio since 1141 and for centuries they have been dedicated to realizing the potential of this land. This estate bottling of Chianti Calssico is made mainly from Sangiovese and a blend of other traditional red grape varieties. The resulting wine has generous aromas of violet and blackberries followed by a full-flavored and velvety palate and a lingering aftertaste.

LilacWine says: What a nice wine with some spaghetti a la puttanesca. Luscious, in fact.

After about an hour decanted, this every-day quaffable was a reddish purple in the glass with thin legs. It showed a nice nose with floral tones (label says violet, I say rose). The mouth feel was really nice - very velvety with a bit of tannic bite. Lots of blueberry. The finish was very pleasant.

This was a "buy again" for my future Italian meals.

Lilac,

Yes, the Ricasoli Brolio CC is a solid wine from a solid producer (since 1996 anyway) and a beautiful estate. Give their IGT called Casalferro a try. One of the better value Super-T's available, usually in the $28- $32 range domestically.

Ciao
