1999 Gosset Champagne Brut Grand Millésime - France, Champagne (6/15/2008)
WIML92,PURPLE92

Tasted June 15, 2008. Opened for Father's day to serve with some caviar. Live is good.

Yellow color in the glass, clear hue throughout with light beading. Nose of pain grill, yellow apples, a little ginger and maybe some cookie dough. Flavors of strawberries, cherries, tangy apple and a bit of citrus on the medium to long finish. Bright acidity, medium to full body. Drink or hold ov er the medium term. Picked up at least 1 WIML point since the last tasting. (92 pts.)

Nice wiml.

Gosset Champagne is not for everyone in my opinion. They never let their wine go through malolactic fermentation and may not be as round as some like. They are a fine House.

If you find the current release of Blanc de Blanc, BUY! Smile

Is there current vintage of the BdB 1999, 2000 or 2002? Have you seen it locally?

Not sure of the blend. It was released in November of 2007, and less than 1700 cases produced. They shipped very little the U.S. but did ship some.

I have not seen any local. I bought at Gosset.

There are a few sources in the U.S. including Vinfolio (recommended).

Can you guesstimate the final price after conversion that you'd paid? Just curious versus what's on the U.S. market right now.

Actually that's pretty close to what I'm seeing online right now. Interesting. Might have to break out the credit card.

Thanks for the notes Joe.
Funny cause we open a 1998 Gosset just last Friday with Otis and Grossie so it's nice to compare the 2 vintages even though it is not the same cuvee.

I used to get a lot of NV Gosset when I lived in Brussels. and every once in a while some 1995 of their vintage. My recollection is that Gosset is pretty gassy. Was that your experience with the '99?

I always wanted to be a procrastinator.

I didn't note that but from memory I'd say yes, it leaned towards the higher end of the scale when it comes to gas.
