I found a 1990 Rocca Della Macie Rocatto at one of the stores I sell to, and picked it up. The initial nose was of dried cherries, and earthy funk. The color on this wine was amazing...going from a dark red in the center to caramel at the rim.

It was much lighter than I expected, with notes of the same dried cherries, figs, earth, and some dark fruit. This was a really fun wine to drink. I don't think it was headed downhill, but I don't think it would have benefitted from much more age.
