1st from the case, popped and poured. Light gold colour. Slightly tinny nose (yes, I checked it's not the glass), locked in pineapple, lemon, vanilla, caramel, honeysuckle flowers and slightly spicy note. A subtle chemical poly ethanol smell, but not overtly gluey as many Sauternes can be. In the mouth, this is fat, rich, and viscous, coating each and every part. Acidity is there underneath, with a lingering palate puckering that makes you want to suck on your teeth. Sweetness resides around the gums and in the cheeks, making me salivate on the ripe pineapple, sweet almost cotton candy taste. Quite full and long. Finish just goes on and on. This baby is locked up, yet gives an experience that predicts much more in future as it integrates the amazing amount of sweetness. Really enjoyable now but this will be even better in 5+ years and will have a 20+ yr life ahead. Great wine. 95 pts. We had this at FKG and Jcocktosten's home last Tuesday. Great notes; especially the ripe pineapple comment. This wine is a BEAUTY! | |||
