Dark ruby color with purple tinges and a wonderful, upfront nose of raspberry, brown sugar, and molasses. (sp?) Very plush on the palate, with deep raspberry and blackberry flavors, sweet, round tannins and a long finish. This young wine is definitely in its mature drinking window. Easy to like. With more complexity, it would be classic. As it is, a solid 94.

I loved this wine on release. Haven't had one for a while now. Thanks for the notes!

Still dark ruby but the profile has changed fairly significantly. Not nearly as plush on the palate, but the nose has developed lots of interesting, secondary elements. Still nice raspberry and cassis on the nose, but not as sweet, along with the impression of bandaid, a faint citrus note (not quite orange rind, but similar), and a faint pepperiness as well. The palate has mellowed significantly with a darker sense to the fruit and a peppery earthiness staking some territory. Still fairly long, but not as saturating as I recall two years ago. A notably different experience, but still just shy of classic IMHO. 94 Drink now and over the short term.
