Screw Top. Served at cellar temperature. The nose was melon and pears. On the palate, full bodied, chalk, pears, and lime. Paired geat with a simple disk of shrimp, cooked shell on, with olive oil, lemon and garlic. A-/B+. Drink or hold in the short term

2004 Domaine des Baumard Savennières - France, Loire Valley, Anjou-Saumur, Savennières (11/23/2012)

100% Chenin Blanc. Had the 2002 vintage of this wine and liked it slightly better than this vintage. 2004 was an average to good vintage in the Loire Valley. Found this on sale for $3 per bottle and bought 9. Normally $20. These bottles were not screw caps. Tart with solid acidity. Notes of lemon zest and minerals with a hint of sea salt. Paired this with a cheddar potato and bacon soup and it worked well. 89 points.
