TURNBULL WINERY - Napa Valley, CA (6/28/2008)

  • 2007 Turnbull Sauvignon Blanc - USA, California, Napa Valley, Oakville
    Nose of grapefruit with hints of peaches and white flowers. Zesty lemon and lemongrass on the palate. Refreshing and easy to drink. (88 pts.)
  • 2004 Turnbull Syrah Estate Grown Oakville - USA, California, Napa Valley, Oakville
    Opulent notes of plum jam, vanilla, and black currants. Showy and easy to like. A tad austere on the finish, however. 88-89 points. (88 pts.)
  • 2005 Turnbull Merlot - USA, California, Napa Valley, Oakville
    Green-inflected notes of black cherries, cedar, and spice. Smooth on the palate. A bit soft on the finish, however. (87 pts.)
  • 2005 Turnbull Cabernet Sauvignon - USA, California, Napa Valley, Oakville
    Elegant and earthy notes of cassis, cedar, and sweet tobacco. Lighter in weight and concentration that the 2004, but the structure is there. (89 pts.)
  • 2005 Turnbull Barbera Estate - USA, California, Napa Valley, Oakville
    Not sure this is the best varietal for Napa. Meaty and a bit on the sweet side, with notes of cherry and pomegranate fruit. Could use some acidity. (83 pts.)
