I think I spelled this wrong. Anyway, we had this a couple of weeks ago. It's our first Auslese ever, and WS had 94 points. So, no frame of reference.

But wow, we each had a glass the first night, the ued the Vacu-vin and finished the bottle on night 2.

Only one verdict, I'll buy more of this kind of stuff. Just plain Luscious ( yes, with a capital L!). All sorts of bouquet and light bright flowery and appley and citrus flavors. Some minor petrol notes, mineral, acidity for balance. Mouthfilling flavors, almost overwhelming at times.

Thanks for the notes. Thought, I think WS gave 94 pts to the GK.

I think you're right, It might have been WA on the 94 pts.

I don't know. After 23 years of cabs/blends and Chardonnay, I "discovered" Rieslings within the past year, and have done many more Alsace than Germany. So, literally no frame of reference at all. But it was sure Yummy, I'll say that.

Dear All,

I have couple bottles of German Auslese at home and I don't know what kind of meal should this go with. Would it be too sweet for traditional steak and grill fish? Please give suggestion...

Yes, forget the steak.
The fish 'might' be ok if you serve it with a spicy sauce.
Though, I would recommend you serving it before or after the meal. Even if you drink only a glass or two on the 1st night. The wine will only improve in the fridge for a few days.

The thing with Auslesen is that you can never be sure which side of sweetness it may be on. Some are bordering the dessert line, but many are not sweeter, and sometimes even less overtly sweet, than Spatlesen.

GDN- this comment reminded me of something I posted awhile backon Chard v. Riesling. Think I'll bump it.
