Nose of pear puree, raw skinned almonds, fennel bulb and seed, toast, resin, and a tiny bit of smoke. Round. In an hour or so, the nose evolves, and begins to offer up sugar cane juice and toasted marshmallow.
Tons of pears and minerals on the palate, initially. Midway, offers up hints of fennel, honey and pear tart. Finish is long – pear puree, marmalade and lemons. Has just a tiny bit of sweetness on the finish, but it is entirely balanced.
Enjoyed this wine both cold (5-6 degrees-C) and after it had warmed up to room temperature (21-C).
Medium alcohol (even at 14%, it’s balanced and does not burn), medium tannins, medium acidity, medium-plus body. A very balanced package with great poise from start through (long) finish. Not sure how this will taste with a decade or more of age, but it is entirely delicious now.

Nose of honey, pear, jasmine, lime, beeswax, mineral and a nutty aroma that I couldn't quite place. Initially on the palate this was all apple and minerals, but as it warmed up, notes of roasted almonds and honey came to the forefront. Unctuous through and through, with a long finish (45 seconds plus) of pear and almonds. (94 pts.)
