I know that '02 was considered a down year for Muller Catoir with the change over at the winery. But are the '02s just not as good as one would expect for a Muller Catoir but still good...or would money be better spent on other '02s? I know this is somewhat vague, but I've been seeing some '02s at pretty decent prices and trying to figure out if I should pull the trigger. Any thoughts? TIA

I have not had any of M-C's 2002's. I would not say they are an automatic pass though. if the prices are good enough, buy them. Here were my recs for what to buy from the 2002 vintage.

I've been keeping my eye out for good deals in the Riesling area to broaden my horizons. Still can't say I've been converted, but keeping my mind open.

Ah, that's good to hear. I had a buddy of mine pick up a few of the Herrenlettens for me in NYC. I'm glad it is as good as advertised. Did you perchance try the 01 Burgergarten Spat? If so, how does it compare?

I was at M-C a couple of years ago at a time when they were selling both the 2001 and 2002 vintage. I felt the 2001s were better and they were diffently trying to push me to buy the 2002s instead of the 2001s. Ie I would taste the 2001 and ask to purchase it and they said it was not available but the 2002 was available....
