Just because I felt like opening a screwcap bottle, we had this little wine with our dinner last night. A blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Semillion, it was a very nice pairing with our linguini in clam sauce.

Henschke 2002 Tilly's Vineyard ($16) Barossa Valley

Initial whiff of nutty aromas blew off quickly to reveal apple, pear and grassy scents. Medium-bodied, with a touch of butteriness - this has good weight to it yet manages to show a little finesse. The finish is clean, but not persistent. A nice white wine and an excellent match to dinner. 87 points.
