Trying to decide whether or not to buy this wine. If it's still drinking well, then $20/btl sounds like a steal, but if it's way over the hill then maybe not. Anybody have any in the recent past?

I wouldn't touch it. Buy something else.

This was very below average wine upon it's release from a "drink now vintage" - definite pass.

Jenn,
I bought a case of this for $9 per bottle last year and my TN and some other CWM opinions on this wine can be found at this link. VM |

I remember being pelasantly surprised with the '89 Freemark Abbey Sycamore when we tried it in November.
Of course, the Bargain Bin Bandit got a heckuva deal at $9, but I think $20 is a decent price for a 16 year old Napa cab in good condition. I'd put it in the 88-90P range. It represents a classical style that is less and less prevalent these days. Not a great vintage, but this wine has some character to it. Cheers, Otis |
