Tasted right after the '98 La Poderina. Not in the same league. Not decanted. Medium bodied and dark ruby colour with aromas of plums. Fruit forward and easy to drink with a good but not great finish. 88-89 points. I won't be buying at CDN$51.

was interested in picking some of these up on my way back into town. Does the SAQ have any good stuff worth taking a look at? Saw that the 2001 Rieslings are arriving again with a couple of Selbach-Osters thrown in there. Gonna get some?

Steve,

Have you found other years much better? I have always rated the wines 87-91, which I think are very good.

291. The '97 is better IMO, but you're right the Nardi is a very good not great Brunello. Just don't think the '98 is worth the money.

Escape. Where did you see that? I haven't seen the last 2 new release letters so I need to get over to Kirkland and check them out. You saw my note on La Poderina? Let me know if there is anything you would like me to pick up for you.

There is the listings of several '01 Germans there. Will call you when I get to town on Thurs a.m. to arrange a wine drop with you. Hope I will have some time to do more than that, split a bottle perhaps, but I miss the kids.

Popped and poured at 66ish degrees.

I wasn't expecting too much with the 89 Wine Spectator score, but I do like Silvio Nardi Manachiara wines, and this impressed me a lot.

First off, I have really enjoyed most 1998 Brunelli. I think they drink very well and seem to appeal to a lot of palates. Well-priced vintage and one to drink while you wait on the 1997s, 1999s, and 2001s.

Everyone loved this bottle... Drinking very well now, I wish I had a case. Very flavorful... stood up to a beef roast with shallot/port/bacon sauce. Complex and tasty. Delicious finish. Reinforced my high opinion of Silvio Nardi.

Best $30 I've spent on a Brunello.

I found one of these today in the cellar ( Red Face) and happy to find a recent note.

This wine will not see the end of the year. Smile

The same here. All '98 Brunelli I've had over the past 2 years where delicious (Fuligni, Lisini, Poggio di Sotto, Costanti). Much better than the general press this vintage has received.
