Opened and poured a small glass right away. This is a dark, inky wine that looks viscous in the glass. Intense aromas of wild berry, plum, tobacco, and (bloody) meat. At first, this wine was closed, so we left the bottle open and went out to dinner for about 3 hrs. Came back, the wine had blossomed beautifully. A full bodied, intense, thick, rich mouthful of syrah. The fruit flavors are for now overshadowed by the tobacco, meat, and graphite notes. Almost an old world flavor profile supported by new world mouthfeel. Needs time, at least a couple years. A little muddled now, 88-89 pts, will be outstanding with some bottle age.
