  • 2001 Weinlaubenhof Alois Kracher Chardonnay/Welschriesling Grande Cuvée TBA #6 Nouvelle Vague - Austria, Burgenland, Neusiedlersee (7/13/2007)
    Birthday Dinner #1 w/ basecadet & mimik (Toba Restaurant, Toronto, Canada): Amber colour. Huge nose of apricot, honey, vanilla, jasmine, nectarine, peach, and quince. Full-bodied, incredible unctuous, with fantastic texture. Peach nectar, honey, burnt marmalade, and bruleed sugar notes on the palate. Long finish, ~45-50s, with honey and peach nectar. (93 pts.)

How long did you open/breathe before drinking? Last couple Krachers I have had (most recent was a 98 #6) were soooo much better day 2.

If I have the opportunity/ foresight, I try to open all of my dessert wiens at least 10 hours before consumption. I find this usually adds at least a point or two..

Unfortunately it was pop'n pour but I'll take your advice next time round.

Have you tried the #4 from the same vintage?
