  • 2003 Rosenblum Cellars Zinfandel Annette's Reserve - USA, California, Mendocino County, Redwood Valley (3/27/2006)
    WIML90,PURPLE92,NOWA,WS91,CT90.1

Tasted March 27, 2006 at home with a dinner of grilled ribeye. Opened and served immediately in a Spigelau Authentis Magnum glass. Dark purple color, clear hue throughout. Nose of raspberry, pepper, blueberry and a little briar patch. Flavors of cassis, blueberry and spice. Big, jammy style of wine. Big alcohol so drink sitting down. Not my style of wine but well made nonetheless. Drink now with a little time in the decanter or let it sit another year. Should hold for a few years. Value is acceptable to agreeable. (90 pts.)

Thanks for the report. Sounds like you liked the 2003 even if it's not your style. Have you had the 2002, and if so, how does it compare?

I have the 2003 cellared but haven't yet tasted it. I bought some because I like the 2002 and WS gave the 2003 a high rating. I will be driving by the winery later today, so perhaps I will give it a try. Just a taste though since I believe the alcohol is 16.1%.

I've not had the 2002. Yes, it is 16.1% alcohol. I failed to note that.

Wineismylife:

Just tried to taste the 2003, but the winery is sold out. They will be releasing 2004 in May. Guess, I will have to open a bottle to taste it. The 2002 has rich berry and plum fruit with a hint of sweetness that runs through the finish.

Check a few local Costco. That's where I found mine.

Right, I have a bunch callared and just wanted to taste it without opening a bottle. It is also at Bottle Barn in Santa Rosa and Tip Top in Healdsburg at signficant discount.

I had a the 2002 Annette's last week and thought it was great. Big, Bold wine with a little spice on the nose and huge fruit flavors. I will be picking up some more as it seemed to me this wine will hold for a few more years.
