2003 Guffens-Heynen Mâcon-Pierreclos Le Chavigne - France, Burgundy, Mâconnais, Mâcon-Pierreclos (8/11/2005) Excellent '03 white burgundy. Nice acidity with zesty nose right off the bat. Medium bodied, with medium coloring as well. Quite approachable, as most of the '03 whites I have tried have been, with nice tropical fruit, apple and oak. Oak was a bit strong at first, but subtled over time. Good fruit, with nicely integrated components. Let it breathe for about 30 minutes before drinking. Nice summer wine.
Hill's Market still has a number of the '02 Pierreclos and Pierreclos "le Chavigne". These are simply phenomenal wines for the money - I've had plenty of 1er crus that I didn't enjoy as much.
