Opened last night at home. My Summer of Miscellaneous Whites continues.
This is a still Chardonnay from a producer best known for Cremant de Limoux. I think the fruit is mostly from Limoux but carries the broader VdP d'Oc appellation. Nose of lemon & very tart apple w/smoke and gunflint notes; racy, mouthcutting acidity w/ gooseberry & kiwi notes, leading to long, puckering finish. Some oak was used but I would be suprised if there was any malolactic fermentation. 87 pts. A pretty good value for $13. |
