2000 Piaggia Carmignano Riserva - Italy, Tuscany, Carmignano (7/2/2009)
Bigger fruit and body than I expected with fairly low acidity. The ripeness gave a long finish that had a hint of sweetness and some sediment. Very enjoyable wine, that tasted like a lush, modern style Brunello with a little extra firmness from the 20% or so cab content. (92 pts.)

Weird...

I drank the same wine tonight and scored it the same 92 pts but with no note (DNPWD)!

I think your note was absolutely perfect. This was a much better experience than my last bottle a couple of years ago and definitely on the upswing in terms of enjoyment. Glad I have two more.

I found striking similarities in this to Fontodi's Vigna del Sorbo (which for me is a huge bonus), in that the bit of cab in the blend adds a modern touch to the wine while still being unmistakeably Italian.

Delicious wine!

Funny coincidence. This was better than I expected for the vintage, though not as good as '99. I also have '04, but missed the '01 I would like to have.
