varietally correct and unpleasing-85

1995 Balgera Valtellina Inferno--nebbiolo light from the Valtellina, hints of road tar
but very firm and complex---87

1986 Bruno Giacosa Barbaresco normale--a major wine in a minor vintage-approaching peak--91

1988 Bruno Giacosa Barbaresco Santo Stefano Riserva Speciale-rick dark colour extravagant fruits, it just goes on & on--95

1995 Ca' del Monte Amarone della Valpolicella Classico--gently fading concentrated flavours hints of cinnamon in nose--88
