Marquis Phillips 9 & S2 are finally about to make it out to the islands. I have really enjoyed the regular shiraz, blend and cab. and was wondering if the higher priced s2 and 9 are worth the extra $$? Or since I already have a case of the reg. shiraz and blend would it be money best spent on some other wines?

Mahalo in advance.

The '9' is a buy if the price is right (should be right around $30). I have been able to find the S2 yet.

I would say the MP9 is worth a try at $30. For me its really too much of an over-the-top in-your-face-style. I don't know if I would really consider it wine, its more like bluberry syrup with alcohol. Still I was happy that at least I tried it to see what all the hype is about.

A friend on the "inside" of the distribution chain for MP managed to get me two bottles of the S2. A nice surprise. I have a bunch of the Shiraz and Sarah's Blend, but have only read about the S2, and only a sprinkling of reviews at that. I would be interested in any tasting notes on this, including any drinking tips (drink/hold, decant, air time, etc.). Thanks in advance.

Cheers!

...and it is a very thick, root beer/licorice root kinda wine -- very hedonistic, a lot like the 1999 Columbia Crest Reserve Merlot or Cab, but without the varietal components. It's a damn nice wine for about $20, but think Aussie Shiraz, rather than Cab, for descriptors.....

I bet they are good and worth it. The real story is the 2001 Integrity. I had this at a Skurnik tasting. Oh wow! It'll be a steal at $100 or under.
