Lafite 2003 was the WOTN, 95 points and will improve but drinking so good now. Tasted it four times with similar results.
The other favorites all 94 points: Masseto 2004 Schrader MMX 2006 Fontodi Flacianello 2006 Pride 2005 Ridge 1989 Siro Pacenti 2004 Charles Heidsieck 1995 Blanc des Millenaires Two Hand Ares 2006 Casanova di Neri BdM Cerretalto 2004 Suduiraut 2001 (I am almost sure was 2001 but the book says 2005)

Thanks! I've had 2003 Lafite once on release and it was great. Just not worth the $1000 price tag IMHO. Especially when you can get just about any other vintage with some age on it for that price or less.
Interesting to see Harlan didn't make it into your top tier. Why only 93 pts.? Same with Latour 2005?
So much wine.....so little time!!!

Orlando - I am sorry I missed seeing you. I was there on Thursday night. I tasted over 60 wines and these were my favorites:
97 points
2006 Flaccianello 2000 Montrose 2003 Lafite
96 points
1989 Ridge (why can't CA make wine like this anymore) 2004 Masseto 2004 Sassicaia
95 points
2004 Casanova di Neri Cerretalto 2005 Robert Weil Gold Cap Kiedrich Grafenberg Auslese 1999 Vega Sicilia Unico 1997 Salon 2000 Leoville Barton
94 points
2004 Fuligni
Biggest Disappointments
2005 Harlan (must have been an off bottle) 2003 Caymus Special Selection 2006 Sette Ponti Oreno (big surprise based on the early reviews) 2000 Stags Leap SLV 2005 Mouton
I missed the 2003 Haut Brion. The 2004 Giacosa Barolo Le Rocche del Falleto Riserva (Red Label) was so huge I could not even give it a score.

I paid $320 for Lafite. 93 points because they are not that good. Harlan is like in those years when it is not impressive. Latour is finally coming out of the shell, but not impresssive.

Most of them are overscored by WS or Parker. I think my scores are closer to reality.

They decanted all the bottles before serving, because they said it needs it. And yes, probably a good idea. I think it has 10 more years. It taste already mature, but will remain like this for about 5 years, then probably will decline (older flavors) for the next five years.

LG- Great listing and, as I feel pretty calibrated into your palate, this listing is very valuable to me. Thank you. Especially with some of the Italian releases coming out now. It's looking like I'll pick up more than planned of the Fontodi and less of some others.
'03 Caymuss SS- I've had this 3 times now and have been underwhelmed/disappointed each time. '03 was just not a vintage in which SS shows as anything 'special'.

KSCO2 - The '06 Ornellaia was tasty as well but I don't think it is the WOW wine that the '04 was when released (I also tasted it at the WS event 2 years ago). I should have included the '06 Felsina Fontolloro in with the 94 point wines. It was very good.
BTW, the '04 Valdicava and the '04 Montosoli did not show well. Actually, the '04 Argiano normale showed better at this time.

I didn't take any notes (very liberating BTW!), but these are the wines I remember liking most:
1995 Beringer Private Reserve Cab Sauv 2006 Bouchard l'Enfant Jesus 2004 Casanova di Neri Cerretalto BdM 1998 Ch. d'Yquem 2003 Ch. Haut-Brion 2003 Ch. Lafite Rothschild 1995 Ch. Latour 2000 Ch. Montrose 2006 Dominus 2006 Hall Cab Sauv Kathryn Hall 2005 Harlan 2006 J. Drouhin Chassagne-Montrachet Marquis de Laguiche 2007 Kosta Browne RRV Pinot Noir Krug Brut Grande Cuvee 1989 Ridge MonteBello 2005 Shafer HSS 2004 Siro Pacenti BdM 2005 Torbreck RunRig 2006 Tua Rita GdN 2004 Valdicava BdM
No knee-bucklers like last year's '97 Masseto. My favorite was the '03 Haut Brion, with the '05 Torbreck RunRig and '06 Bouchard l'Enfant Jesus close behind.
The '04 Masseto was undrinakable IMO. Searing tannins. Needs lots of time.
LB/Orlando: sorry I missed you guys!
Cheers,
Otis

The Masseto probably was a bad bottle because it was delicious, well it was not aged as the 97 last year, but it was VERY drinkable and good. We also try to look for you and Longboarder. Next time we will need to arrange for a specific place and time! But I think I will not go next year in Vegas because I don't like the idea of New World wines tasting. For you it is not that far, but for us, it is. Well, maybe we can go to your party!
