2001 Sweeney Canyon Chardonnay
Pale yellow, leggy and brilliant. After allowing to warm up, the nose is pure and volatile. Pear and kiwi with a pleasant amount of oak on the nose. Orange and casaba melon and a bit of pineapple on the palate. Buttery but not creamy. Strong mineral and fruit on a long finish. Wonderful stuff. 94


2001 Melville Chardonnay
Rich and glyceriny, with lemon cream and bannana. Like the Sweeney Canyon, good mineral slate backbone but a bit higher acidity. Finishes with a touch of nuts and spice, though a bit short. A slight step down from the Sweeney Canyon. 92

I didn't take any formal notes but i had a bottle of the Clos Pepe and it has the stuff to be a great pinot, i believe really great, in a few years
