  • 2002 Domaine de Durban Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise (3/18/2007)
    From a 375ml.
Pale straw color. On the nose, huge juicy oranges and flowers, at this point I would give it a 94 points, you gotta love muscat nose...
On the palate, orange marmelade, almonds and lemon.
Not a really long finish but long enough to make you appreciate what you're drinking.
An experience with a '89 and a '91 a year ago, even from a different producer, tells me this wine will be great for at least a decade more.
I've been enjoying wines from this domaine since the '98 vintage and I believe this is the best producer of beaumes de Venise you can get.
And at less than 15 bucks a bottle on release, this is still one of the few underpriced wines of the Rhone Valley. (91 pts.)
