I originally experienced this wine in Tuscany at the winery and I was really impressed. Although I originally tasted the 2001, at the winery, I drank the the 99' tonight. It was not quite as good, but still I have really come to love Italian Syrahs, such as this one and the Ceretto Monsordo. Tonights 99' was inky with an unmistakable violet nose. Tannins were slightly green on the finish but nice and supple. The dark fruit was balanced with typical syrah spice.

Thanks for the TN. I have 1 bottle of the 1998. I am planning on opening this sometime this winter. I have to check, but I believe that WS rated the '98 89 pts. I bought this on blind faith from a realiable Italian wine merchant when I visited Italy last year. Have you had the '98 before?

No I sure haven't, just the 99' & the 01'... I would love to know what you think of it when you try it.

D'Alessandro also makes an interesting white named Fontarca (sp?)that I like also.
