1995 JM de Fonseca Periquita Classico -- this Portuguese red is made from 100% Castelão grapes, a varietal I'm pretty sure I've not had before (at least, not knowingly). Beautiful medium-ruby color with orange at edges; nice, deep nose of sour cherry; quite silky on the palate, medium-bodied, overwhelmingly cherry in flavor, hints of white pepper, sage; long rich cherry finish. Very nice wine, obviously well-made, kind of a one-trick pony though. Around 90 pts. This sold for about C$35 here, which is not good value.

I've actually had this wine, as part of a Portuguese TAA a few months back, I think? Confused It's CAD$27 here in Ontario. If I recall correctly, I liked it well enough, but insufficiently to buy more, for that price at least. The sour cherry sounds familiar
