young and vigot with predominant raisiny notes and nose, a bit tannic. Good representative of Baby Amarones. Great QPR under $18 a bottle,
and well extremely well with a lobster. |

We both love the Zenato Ripassas. The last we had was 2001... and I don't remember seeing any '02's on the shelves. Now the '03's are out? What happened to '02?

I'll ask tomorrow when WW opens. I find this juice simply delicious...not much sophistication but...excellent compliment to many foods |

boiled in: water, red hot crushed pepper, bay leaves, salt, black pepper mix, served with melted butter and wild mushroom salad on the side. As for pairing...I read a lot about folks using Reisling/Gewurtz for lobster and thought sweet-ish Ripassa would be a good red equivalent. |

I have had some red wines that paired well with lobster.

I've had fish with red, and meat with white, but never would have paired lobster with a ripassa. Perhaps in a fra diavolo with heat and some acidity, but would think the richness of the red would be too much even for a sweet lobster. Glad to hear it worked for you, Serge!

PH, we are experimenting bunch and love "out of the box" pairings,
sometimes they work, sometimes they don't and the only way to find out is..try it. Due to palete limitations, we don't drink whites, so we substitute whites for PN's quite often. |

I checked wine-searcher.com and there's no 02 Zenato Ripassa listed worldwide compared to 97 for the 01 and 40 for the 03. Nothing on Zenato's web site. This message has been edited.
