The wine had a beautiful Zinfandel-like nose of dark fruit and berries. Ripe flavors of plums and berries, ripe soft tannins, and a silky mothfeel combine to make this a delicious wine that can be enjoyed now. I don't think this will improve much. 93

Noticed blackberry liqueur notes. I did find this enjoyable, intense but not too much so, it was good before dinner (was gonna give it 88), had pizza, ended up with the 90. Very nice but not worth the money.
90 points

Tasted at the DC Cru dinner in December. Wonderful. Great mouthfeel. Nose of lots of red fruits, while not as over the top jammy as the 1998, it still jumped from the glass at you with fruit and berrys. Exceptional. 93 pts.
When in doubt, open another bottle.

Had this at a large wine tasting event recently and liked it a lot. I can't remember what my TNs indicated, but there was something "Rhoney" about it, as I recall, that appealed to me. So did one of the Kay Bros. wines. I bought some, but haven't opened any. Might do so soon, based on the notes here.

Robert Parker raved over the Admiral's Reserve... which is why I sold both of mine. I'll echo another forumite's statement regarding Parker and Aussie... the higher he rates them, the more I typically do not like them (from tasting experience). The regular Kangaroo Island seems like a reasonable price... I might give it a shot. Probably not, though.
We had this wine again tonight. No notes taken. this wine has clearly changed in the last year. the power has subsided and the wine has mellowed without any gain in complexity or elegance. I'd rate it about 88 or 89 and advise to drink up now. I think it's headed South, though it's possible it's closing down.
Just one more sip.

While I was down in South Australia in July, I tasted some tank samples from Kangaroo Island that were being overseen by Geoff Weaver. He wouldn't tell me the name of the winery. The tank samples were fantastic -- among the best things I tasted on the trip! They reminded me of early 90s Quilceda Creek Cabs.
I wish I knew which winery they were from...
