Tasted Feb 11, 2009 (tasted blind).

Nose of cassis, capsicum, damp earth. Slightly dusty. Some violets. Cab Sauv influenced. Slightly gamey.

Gorgeous sweet cassis in the mouth. Lovely flavours. Good length. Red licorice and anise on the finish. Perfect balance (medium body, alcohol, tannins, acidity). Now-5 years. 91-92 pts.

This was enjoyed over about two hours with dinner. A very dark color in the glass with a bit of lightening at the rim. Initially a bit shut and acidic, the wine put on considerable weight as it opened up. A great nose of blackberries and earth carried into a rich, full bodied palate with a 30 second or so finish. This wine is drinking very well right now, and will easily go a few more years.

p.s. this is my first tasting note here so don't beat me up too badly Smile
