I don't know much about this Italian red except what was on the bottle. I found it in a discount bin for $10 and have since seen it advertised for about $34. It is a blend of 60% Cabernet and 40% Merlot from the Friulli region of Northeastern Italy.

Normally I would not buy an Italian wine made from international varieties like these but the price was right and the manager of the Italian department, who I have trusted in the past, gave me the thumbs up.

Deep red color. Beautiful aroma of crushed cherries. This was a medium to full bodied wine with plenty of ripe fruit. It also had some firm tannins indicating it might age for 3-4 more years although I'm not sure how much better it will get. Notes of plum and blackberry with a little chocolate. Interesting wine. 87-89.
