As is the case quite often these days I found myself at DRAB's house being treated to a great meal (herb roasted chicken with sides of roasted root vegetables) and a wonderful bottle of wine. Tonight it was a well preserved bottle of 1975 Trotanoy. The wine was poured straight from bottle.
Opaque ruby to the rim. Effuse, insistent nose of saddle leather, plums, and baked cherries. The mouth feel equivalent of a textured velvet robe. Ample but judicious notes tobacco leaf and red fruits dominate and find balance against a slight note of camphor, and just a hint of sweetness. 45+ second finish.
A memorable wine. 96+ points.

Yeah...this was a stunning bottle of Bordeaux. Really put on weight and singing after about 2 hours. This is definitely in it's drinking window, but could possibly improve over the next few years with more cellar time. A very memorable wine. 96 pts.

I haven't had the '75 Petrus for nearly 2 years now, but I would say that it is definitely the better wine and will be the longer lived of these two. It is to this day my benchmark wine, along with '82 Latour.
