An abbreviated work schedule today and the impending arrival of Isidore provided an obvious opportunity for some mid-week wine consumption.

Rion Nuits-St.-Georges Les Grandes Vignes '99 - purchased for $35 (WS 92 - described as "superlative"): strong pinot nose instantly apparent upon bottle opening; full-bodied, earthy pinot; quite good although somewhat tannic; needs time - appears to have potential for significant aging - fruit is definitely present but now overshadowed by the oak/tannins. Have one more and will be buying more.

Green & Red Zinfindel Napa Chiles Mill '00 - bought for $26 on recommendation of local retailer (WS 87): nothing impressive here - typical zin flavors overshadowed by excessive oak. Poor QPR. Pass.

Good luck with the storm Wine Guy and the same to all our southern Forumites. Keep your wines high and dry and stay safe.
