Here is yet another fine German value. I have bought half a case, gave 3 as gifts, and drank 3. The final one just last evening.

The floral, green apple, and vanilla aromatics fill the glass better than most of the other 2001 Germans I've had so far. The green apple turns slightly sour on the short minerally finish, but not before a creamy melon mid-palate. At less than $10, this represents an excellent everyday value drinking. 88

RD,

You drank them all? You didn't save any to see how this will develop? Buy another bottle and hold it for 3 more years. It will be a good experiment.

I have not had this wine since I tried a barrel sample in March 2002. I thought that Studert Prum did a very good job in 2001. Here is my note:

"Studert Prum, Riesling Graacher Himmelreich Kabinett- This will be bottled in April 2002 according to Gerhard Studert who took the time to discuss his wines, soil (he brought samples of the slate soil with him) and vineyards. A sharp interesting wine. Good clean tropical fruit and apple flavors and balanced acidity. Score 88-90."

I would definitely buy 3-4 more bottles of this if I could find it. It's just too damn hard to keep from drinking these now!
