This was a disappointment.

It's color was a cranberry red lightening towards the edge. Smelled some alcohol, pepper, and some faint cherry. Tasted pepper and some cherry at first. Kind of boring and bland. Further out there was some leafy and woodsy flavors emerging, but then the wood began to take over. The cherry flavor seemed to get older as it got fainter.

Had this with pasta, red tomato sauce, and lima beans. These foods didn't do much with the wine.

I was informed the 1999 Merlot would be better and I have a bottle of this, too. However, since this Cab was defintiely not impressive, and I am not a big fan of merlots, I'm not placing a high expectation on their Merlot either.

Later,
Mark
P.S. I will let the bottle sit at room temperature over night, but I'll bet it won't improve.

Ooops! Forgot to follow this up.

Had this again the next evening. It seemed to be more together then the first night, but other then that, as I suspected, no big deal.

Later,
Mark, N.H.
