1998 Robert Mondavi Winery Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve - USA, California, Napa Valley (7/4/2008)
Did not have high expectations as my experience with aged 98's has not been great. Color is a dull, dark maroon with just an ever so slight bricking at the edges. The nose is is of ripe apricot dominated by rose petals with a hint of earth. Not the most pleasant, but very interesting, certainly not repulsive. Very light body with fruit up front but the finish lacks and it is just a bit flat. It has softened a bit too much to where it is lacking. This probably peaked two years ago and I should have consumed it earlier. If you have it, I can not see any reason to wait, pop it. (87-88) (87 pts.)
