  • 1995 Domaine du Pégaü Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape (11/7/2008)
Wine Guy Weekend 2: Old saddle leather, bananas(yes, I smelled them), kirsch, smoke and some spicy cherries. More cherries and some clove and spices on the palate. Really enticing and unique. Second bottle of this wine and it was great to taste a decently aged CDP like Pegau. Long long finish. Tannins fully integrated but could use a 1-2 hour decant. Can improve over the next 3-4 years. (95 pts.)

A seductive nose of sweet tobacco, cigar box with some cherries and a hint of caramel. The palate is moderately acidic with sour cherries and vanilla. Medium tannins and stunning 45-50 second peppery finish. Just beautiful. 95 points.(popped and poured) (95 pts.)

Wino Guys Weekend (WGW) #2; 11/7/2008-11/8/2008: Ruddy garnet colour. Aromas of worn saddle leather, kirsch, cinnamon, milk chocolate, Christmas cake/black forest cake, and starts to show a smokiness/burnt leaf note with time. Medium-full bodied, well-integrated tannins, with kirsch, cinnamon, leather, and spice. Great acidity. Moderate-long finish, ~40-45s, with kirsch and chocolate notes. Very tasty. Drink now-2013. 93-94 points. (94 pts.)

WIML94+?

Tasted October 17, 2009 at an offline.

Garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of brown sugar, mixed florals, berries, saddlesoap and licorice. Good, solid flavors of berries, plums and reaspberries. Medium to bright acidity, medium to firm tannins, medium body. Right around the 2 hour mark the nose on this wine was absolutely stunning coming in at least at a WIML95+. Palate is just a hair behind right now so overall lets call it a WIML94+. (94 pts.)

Had one with Mimik a few years ago at an offline here and then another with my brother a year later. Outstanding wine. I will pop my last one at christmas this year with Brashley at our annual Cdp dinner at the club with his family. I cant wait! Might have to search the net for some more!
