The last Marietta I had was lot 27 just a couple weeks ago, apparently I missed lot 28 altogether. The Lot 29 lives up to previous releases and gets an A+ in the QPR department. Ripe, juicy fruit, no tannins to speak of, immediately likeable in the nose and on the palate. Not a deep or complex wine, just a terrific quaffer.

Glad to hear it, Eric. I picked up three today. Virtually impossible to beat for the price. The 28 was consistent with the rest of the series, although I seem to remember someone here saying they didn't like it as much.

That woud have been me. I don't believe the 29 offers the complexity of the 27 or the very fine 28. Have consumed several and sold many at the restaurant. It is good but not up to par with the last several lots. Not saying this wine isn"t worth the price, however I am looking forward to lot 30, which I understand has already been released.

Lot 26 is still my benchmark, with the 28 a close second, then 29, then 27...

Lot 28 was my first, and I had Lot 29 about a week ago. I believe I'll be trying a bottle of each lot for many years to come.

Board-O: do you find Marietta releases about 1 lot per year? Or is it more frequent?

I'm not really sure, but I can guess this way- I remember a restaurant we stopped in about 12-15 years ago. When we walked in, they told us they were new and didn't have a wine list yet, so I walked a few doors down and bought my first Marietta wine, the Lot 9. Extrapolating would indicate about 1 1/2 lots per year.

I think Board-O is about right on the release schedule of Marietta OVR. I started on lot 26 four years ago (almost exactly), so if lot 30 is about to be released.... It makes sense anyway since I know the wines used can be from as many as three vintages.

My wineshop has been open less than 2 years, and we have sold the 26, 27, 28, and passed on the 29. So I would say that they are coming out every 6 to 9 months at this time...
