Dark purple .... almost inky black and opaque. To coin a phrase from Jim Dove ... the alcohol was high enough to cause a nose hair trim". Moderate tannins but harsh on the finish. Palare reveals oak and tar immediately with loads of black fruit. This one needs to sleep another 2 -3 years. I personally think this was starting to close down.
