Cherry and some tobacco, sweeter than normal, but still Sangiovese. still very acidic. I think this was too young. When I saw it go in the decanter I asked for a glass then, because to my palate immature acidic wines shut down hard after a decant. I thought this turned harsh and flavorless in about 35 minutes. There was some speculation that this wine will go nowhere, I felt that it was in a place impossible for me to judge. For my preference I would wait 3-5 years before trying again. OR if you must, split it with 4-6 people and drink it in less than 25 minutes.

Drunk last night. Different experience than Spo.
Beautiful nose of tobacco, cloves and ripe red cherry. Truely opened up with an hour in the decanter. Med to full body, ripe, med tannin, slightly grainy texture, again bright ripe cherry with some raspberry and cloves. Overall this is not bad but lacks true elegance and with a little too much heat. Will benefit of further aging. 88 pts __________________________ Show a little faith, there's magic in the night |

At least you got the cherries and tobacco right. I suppose I do not have to question your credibility too much. Although poor Aries finally got some points to go with this tn and I think they are a little inflated.
One of the guys I was drinking with was pretty confident this would go nowhere and I thought time may help. Glad to see your perspective. |

Funny you said that cause I almost put an 87-88
I truely think this wine needs more time as it is very dense and just start to give a little. Structure and acidity are also good enough. But as you said, time will tell ! __________________________ Show a little faith, there's magic in the night |

Hey SPO,
Was this the bottle we had at Buon Apetito? I remember there was some question of whether or not it was varietally correct... As I recall we did not decant. Did we just pop n' pour? I too enjoyed it out of the bottle, but at the end of the night wished I would have held it longer... Thanx French16 for helping relive a good night... Cheers. |
