2001 Château les Justices - France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes (6/19/2008)
WIML90+

Tasted June 19, 2008 at an offline.

Served from 375ml format. Opened and served immediately. Yellow color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of orange, quince, lychee and toasted almond. Flavors of orange, apricot and hoeny. Medium acidity and blody. Pretty clean on the palate but lacks much "wow" factor. Good Sauternes though. (90 pts.)

This is the first Sauternes I ever had. About two years ago. It wowed me. I don't think I have liked
another one as much since then.

Your first is always memorable. Cool

But seriously, I think that in the context of tasting mostly young, tannic Bordeaux at that lunch it was easy for the les Justices to stand out and seem special. Having had this wine since then on its own, it's a nice, relatively simple Sauternes that's a great value.
