quote: o -- the price creep of champers is not hype. Whereas you could land Dom for $100-120 previously, I can't find it for less than $150 right now... have you seem any value outlet?)
I just got some bottles for USD$99...will be shipped to NYC for storage, will drink a bottle each time we visit (visits to NYC going forward will probably include 1 dom consumed at a byob restaurant, 1 wine consumed at a byob restaurant, 1 wine for drinking in the hotel room, and 4 bottles to come back to Toronto with us).

Fut, I totally hear you. Used to be that Sherry-Lehmann would list it at $120/125 and often have it on promo for $100. Of course I would be *never* be referring to Vintages having Dom at $100 a bottle. Unless you go back to 1975. p) quote: Originally posted by futronic: Did you check the LCBO? Only $206 a bottle. Doesn't that just *scream* value?

Saw this today at my local Costco for $114.99. They still had plenty.

- 1999 Moët & Chandon Champagne Cuvée Dom Pérignon - France, Champagne (6/18/2008)
Almost colorless with a green cast; The first aromas were matchstick that led to toast and underlying citrus. The flavors varied between crisp green apple and citrus (lime?). This struck me as entirely young with lively mousse and acidity. Hard to tell how much it might potentially improve although it was better than the 1998 and not up to the 1996. Tasted at an industry Dom Perignon Tasting (thank you!). Some tasters preferred this to the more aged Champagnes (lots of bubbles...). (91 pts.) Posted from CellarTracker
