Wow! As far as I'm concerned, this is the bomb as far as inexpensive Mosel kabinett goes. It’s crystal clear, palest yellow, but packed with aromas and flavors. On the nose, I got lots of citrus and fresh flowers; on the palate it’s just amazing – a light structure that holds beautifully concentrated flavors – strong citrus flavors of oranges and grapefruit plus slate and a gentle floral component. The acid provides a terrific effervescence that makes it a joy to drink now, but, as it resolves and integrates over time, should provide an even more elegant drinking experience down the line. Very low alcohol (I think 8%). I think WA slightly underrated this wine at 89 points. To my palate, it deserves a solid 92 points and will likely could go higher with some bottle age. Delicious. I paid $15/btl and it’s a solid A QPR at anything under $20.

I managed to only find one lonely bottle of this. I've contemplated opening it up too. There's no way this is gonna get bottle age with me! Great notes!
Yes, Selbach-Oster is an excellent producer and his wines sell very fast. I saw several of his wines, including this kabinett and some Spatlese, on the shelf in December and did not buy them. They sold out by the next time I returned to the store. Thus I have no Selbach wines in the 6 cases of 2001 German Rieslings I purchased.
However, I believe Blue Oval obtained a few so I may be able to try some when he opens his.

The auslese** is supposed to be stunning and considered one of the best (according to Parkerites), but I have not been able to find any. Fortunately, I got some of the spatlese
