2004 Aubert Chardonnay Ritchie Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (6/1/2007)
WIML94,WA94-96,NOWS Tasted June 1, 2007 at an offline. Opened and served immediately in a Spiegelau Authentis Magnum glass. Yellow color in the glass, slightly opaque throughout. Huge nose of nutmeg, hazelnut, crème brulee and paraffin. Big and juicy palate of cream, pineapple, pears and yellow apples. Medium acidity, full body. Drink over the short to medium term. (94 pts.) Joe ----- Wine is like potato chips around me...if it's open, it's gone. |

My first thought was how much it reminded me of the wines from Ramey, which I think is a good thing.
A California wine for sure, but very nice to see the ripe fruit showing through the oak. I thought the oak made the fruit show more rich, and the oak helped balance the ripeness of the fruit. That is how it should work to me anyway. Very nice with a slice of the four cheese pizza. Thanks for bringing this wine! w+a |
