One of the best under $20 Malbecs on the market today. The fruit comes from the Vistalba Vyrd in Lujan de Cuyo in Mendoza. The grapes grow at about 3100 feet. This is a pepper laced red with blueberry, currants and sweet lingering tannin. The oak is well integrated with the fruit and does not overpower the wine. Highly recommended. 91pts.

I agree - I just bought another case of this stuff. It is a wine I can enjoy and my non-wine geek friends love it as well. I think I paid around $16 for it by the case.

Thanks for the notes. I have some of this wine but have not yet popped the cork. This motivates me to so soon.

have had this wine recently as well. Great qpr. I think I paid $15/bottle. Good, versatile wine to have handy. Especially for bbqs. mmmmmmmm......

Now....where's that Screwpull?

enjoying a bottle of this with a flank steak pinwheel (stuffed with cheese, spinach, bacon, and spices)

nose - dark fruit and vanillia
mouthfeel - not silk but smooth
taste - dark berry fruit - blueberry, blackberry and a little bit of cassis and plum with vanillia sweetness. There is just enough tartness in the fruit to meld with the sweetness of the vanillia - which keeps the wine from being too sweet.

This bottle was not quite as good as the last - it seemed just a little thin... 89pts

Sounds pretty good to me.

I always seem to pick up a little fig in Malbec.

I didn't mean to sell it short - it has been one of my go to wines for non-wine geek guests when we are serving red meat. This is the first bottle out of two cases that I have thought was under 90 pts. Most are in the 90-92 pt range. Very good wine for the money - this bottle just seemed a little thin. I don't know if it was the spices and flavors in the steak pinwheels or if it was the bottle.

I have not had any figs in a long time and was trying to put my finger on a slightly fruity sweet flavor that was barely hidden under the vanillia - it could very well be figs.
