  • 2001 Tenuta Friggiali (Centolani) Brunello di Montalcino - Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino (10/12/2008)
Deep ruby colour with some amber at the rim. Intitially closed and muted. After +/- 6 hours in the bottle it opened up. Aromas of cherry, blueberry and meat with hints of tobacco and wet earth. Medium bodied with balanced acidity and tannins. Medium finish.
Nice wine, but not what I expected from a '01 Brunello. Much riper than other '01 Brunelli I had. Based on this bottle I say drink now - 2009. (89 pts.)
