97’ KJ Great Estates CS – Alexander Valley. One word: JUICY. Lots of dark berry aromas and flavors, very fruit forward style (very limited herbaceousness). Not an especially nuanced wine but smooth with nice finish that had hints of chocolate and spice. Drinking well now.

I think I paid $42 at a wine shop about 6 months ago. If the price had been $28 I would have been on this like JFK on a Pine Manor girl, but for a little more than ½ the price the 97’ GoS Barrelli or 97’Alexander Valley Vineyards offer better Alexander Valley CS value, IMHO.
