Dark fruit and sandalwood nose with a touch of earthiness. Hint of mint as well. Plum, dark fruit flavors. Smooth tannins. Medium finish. In its drinking window now. (90 pts.)

I have some '98's left... which I really enjoyed. I never saw the '99 in stores, though.

Go HOKIES!!!

I also have never seen the 99, the 98 wasn't bad but the 2001 was a TURD
It was one of the worst wines I have drank in a long time. The inconsistency of this wine has led me to never buy it again.

The 2000 was rated 90 points...full bodied and well balanced, not a knock-out but I bought a few to get me through!

We had our first bottle of this wine over the weekend. Upon opening, this had some very serious STANK on it. Fortunately, the wine was far better than the nose indicated. Unfortunately, it took 45 minutes for that STANK to dissipate. After that, the nose exhibited spicy stewed fruit aromas with some cedar and a hint of coffee. Deep dark fruit flavors were in perfect balance with the acidity and tannins. This wine, with 45 minutes in a decanter, is ready to drink. 92- after the nose cleared.

Just one more sip.
